Cyprus special forces and US Marines have completed a joint training exercise focused on managing terrorist threats and crowd control.

Members of the US Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team Company Europe (FASTEUR) worked alongside the National Guard’s Commando Command, the 964 Military Police Battalion, and the Cyprus Police Special Antiterrorist Unit.

The programme focused on strategies to prevent and manage terrorist threats, as well as the use of riot control equipment and tactics.

The exercise forms part of the ongoing bilateral cooperation between the National Guard and the United States Armed Forces.

In a separate exchange, National Guard personnel travelled to the United States under the State Partnership Programme with the New Jersey National Guard. This mission focused on sharing expertise and monitoring operational procedures in cyber defence and cybersecurity.

The National Guard stated that it continues to invest in international training to upgrade the skills of its personnel. Officials noted that such cooperation is a key pillar in maintaining operational readiness and responding to modern security challenges.
