President Nikos Christodoulides will convene the National Council on Monday, October 7, ahead of his trip to New York for a trilateral meeting with Ersin Tatar and António Guterres.
During the National Council session, the President and political leaders will review the current state of the Cyprus issue.
President Christodoulides will brief the political leadership on his recent meeting with the UN Secretary-General and the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the Security Council.
In addition to updates on the Cyprus issue, the President will take the opportunity to inform political leaders about regional developments as they stand at that time.
The trilateral meeting between Nikos Christodoulides, Ersin Tatar, and António Guterres is scheduled for October 15 in New York.
Deputy government spokesman Yiannis Antoniou told the Cyprus News Agency that it has not yet been clarified whether this will be a dinner or a social meeting.
Antoniou added that the President will first travel to London on October 14 to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, their first meeting since Starmer’s election.
The President will then depart for New York.
Following the New York meeting, Christodoulides will travel to Brussels for the European Council summit on October 17 and 18, where he will brief European leaders on the New York meeting.
