A district court in Larnaca has ordered the detention of a 25-year-old homeless man until February 13 after he broke into a social services office twice in two days to find shelter.

Police spokesman Christodoulos Konsolos said the man broke into the Social Services Office in Agioi Anargyroi, Larnaca, on Wednesday afternoon, forcing entry to sleep inside the building.

The incident occurred just one day after the same individual had committed an identical offence on Tuesday afternoon, for which he had already pleaded guilty to illegal entry and malicious damage.

Following Wednesday’s break-in, police arrested the man and brought fresh charges of illegal entry and making threats before the Larnaca District Court.

The court ordered his detention until February 13, when he will be sentenced for both incidents.
