A family of five, including three children aged 7, 3, and 2, died in an apartment fire that broke out at 4:04 am in Limassol’s Agios Nikolaos area, fire services reported.
Police arrived within minutes but were unable to enter the second-floor apartment due to the intensity of the flames, while other residents in the three-story building managed to evacuate safely.
Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis said four fire engines, including a hydraulic platform, responded to the blaze at 4:08 am.
“The apartment, constructed partly with frame and masonry and partly with plasterboard, was fully engulfed upon arrival”, Kettis stated.
Firefighters using breathing apparatus discovered the bodies of all family members inside the apartment.
Police and the Electromechanical Service Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
