The arrival of Apostle Paul’s skull in Cyprus will be a key topic of discussion between the Archbishop of Cyprus and Pope Francis during a scheduled 2025 meeting, the Archbishop revealed on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Phileleftheros, Archbishop Georgios confirmed that the Church of Cyprus’ request to bring the relic to the island remains on the table, despite opposition from the Metropolitan of Paphos. The meeting with the Pope is expected to take place later this year.

Addressing recent tensions within the Church, the Archbishop stated that the Holy Synod had offered guidance to the Metropolitan of Paphos, urging him to align with Church principles and lead his flock away from extremism. “The Metropolitan of Paphos must uphold the status of Paphos as the foremost Metropolis,” he stressed.
Asked whether Metropolitan Tychikos had responded to the Synod’s recommendations, the Archbishop said he was awaiting tangible action.
