Intensify and expedite is the Labour minister’s late October motto on the Cost of Living Allowance negotiations, as mediation efforts gather pace, with Yiannis Panayiotou ambitiously hoping for a positive outcome between unions and employers over the coming days.
According to Cyprus News Agency sources, following relevant communication between Panayiotou and the two sides, a new round of separate talks are being scheduled, with finance minister Keravnos sitting in once again.
The Labour ministry’s approach is to focus on the points where convergence can be achieved more quickly and leading towards a more permanent CoLA mechanism.
Both unions and employers are keeping away from public statements as this could be make or break in the on-going process.
