Larnaca Police have arrested a 33-year-old man following a savage attempted murder in Tersefanou early this morning. The suspect reportedly stormed into a flat through a balcony door at 7:00 am, launching a violent assault on a 40-year-old man who was inside with a 46-year-old woman.

The attack escalated when the suspect ran to the kitchen and armed himself with a meat cleaver. He repeatedly struck the victim, inflicting horrific injuries across his body. The assailant then turned on the woman, threatening her life as she fled the apartment. Police officers arriving at the scene discovered her in the building’s car park while she was being pursued by the suspect, who immediately fled into the surrounding area before his capture shortly after.

Medical staff at Larnaca Hospital confirmed the 40-year-old victim suffered the amputation of his left thumb, the partial amputation of his right thumb and index finger, and deep lacerations to his back and head. Due to the critical nature of these mutilations, he was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital for specialist surgery. Detectives from the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department and Kiti Police Station secured a judicial warrant for the 33-year-old, who is now in custody facing charges of attempted murder and making death threats.
