A total of 350 products will be included initially on the “Electronic Basket” or “e-kalathi” app which allows consumers to select products, compare prices per retail outlet and determine the total cost of their basket per outlet.
This is what Philenews reported on Monday, adding that among the products included in the food category in “e kalathi” will be: milk, cheese, yoghurt, bread, olive oil, sunflower oil, sugar, coffee, pulses, meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, juices, etc.
In fact, the majority of foods that are necessary for households will be included. And the baby products category will include: baby diapers, baby wipes, baby creams, etc.
In the household goods category, included will be cleaning products, detergents, washing powder, dishwashing liquid, kitchen and toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
The first 350 products for which it will be possible to collect and monitor prices will be determined by a decree issued by Commerce and Energy Minister George Papanastasiou.
The list will also be extended depending on demand and response to it.
The Minister also said that the plan is to include 1500 products in the digital platform. And that, it essentially is the same e-consumer application that is used in Greece but will be adapted to Cyprus data.
