Pakistani air strikes have hit 22 Afghan military targets, killing 274 Taliban officials and militants since fighting broke out overnight on Thursday, Pakistan’s military spokesperson said on Friday.
Twelve Pakistani soldiers were also killed in the clashes, military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry told reporters.
The announcement follows a dramatic escalation between the two Islamic neighbours, with Pakistan bombing Taliban-controlled cities including Kabul and Kandahar overnight in what Islamabad’s defence minister described as “open war.”
