More than 100 people could accuse American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual abuse and exploitation in a series of lawsuits to be filed across various U.S. states over the next month, a lawyer representing the accusers said.
Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee announced that he is representing 120 individuals planning to file civil lawsuits alleging crimes including sexual assault, rape and sexual abuse of minors. Buzbee stated the claims would implicate “many powerful people” and reveal “many dirty secrets”.
This development comes as Combs faces numerous similar civil lawsuits and awaits trial following a high-profile indictment earlier this month.
The music mogul has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to all lawsuits and has not been criminally charged.
Last week, lawyers for Combs filed a notice asking the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in the Southern District of New York to overturn the decision to hold him in prison while awaiting trial. Judge Andrew Carter had cited concerns about alleged witness tampering when making the decision to detain Combs.
The rapper is currently sharing a unit with former cryptocurrency executive Sam Bankman-Fried at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, according to The New York Times.
Combs’ legal team has described conditions at the detention centre as “horrific” in a request for bail that was denied by U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter.
The music industry figure was arrested in Manhattan on 16 September after being indicted by a grand jury on charges including racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
