US Vice President Kamala Harris has accused former President Donald Trump of “demeaning” the office of the US presidency, following his derogatory remarks about her during a campaign rally.

Speaking to MSNBC, Harris emphasised the importance of the presidential role, stating, “The President of the United States should be a role model, not only for our country but also due to our nation’s role in the world.”

Harris added, “The behaviour of my opponent, the former US President, truly demeans the presidential office.”

The Vice President’s comments came a day after Trump referred to her as a “sh*tty vice president” during a campaign event in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

Trump urged his supporters to express their dissatisfaction with the current administration, using inflammatory language.

With the presidential election just 15 days away and early voting already underway in some districts, both candidates are focusing their efforts on key swing states crucial for victory.

Trump has been delivering lengthy speeches criticising and insulting his opponent, the current administration, the press, and immigrants.

Meanwhile, Harris celebrated her 60th birthday at two African American churches in Georgia before travelling to Pennsylvania.

The Vice President has consistently questioned the 78-year-old billionaire’s mental capabilities and moral authority ahead of the November 5th election.

When asked about Trump’s insults, Harris stated, “Donald Trump should never again stand before the presidential seal. He doesn’t deserve that right.”
