The Israeli Defence Forces have issued an urgent evacuation warning for the Houthi-controlled port of Hodeidah in western Yemen ahead of planned strikes in the coming hours.

Colonel Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, warned that Israeli forces would strike the area due to military activities carried out by what he termed “the terrorist Houthi regime.”

“The [Israel] Defence Forces will strike in the coming hours in the area marked on the map in light of the military activities carried out by the terrorist Houthi regime there,” Adraee stated in his warning.

The Israeli military called for immediate evacuation of all personnel and vessels at the port. “For your safety, we call on all those present at Hodeidah Port and the ships moored there to evacuate the area immediately,” Adraee said.

He added that “anyone who remains in the area exposes their life to danger,” emphasising the urgency of the evacuation directive.

The IDF has struck Hodeidah Port multiple times previously in response to repeated ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthis against Israeli territory.

The Houthi movement, which controls significant portions of Yemen including the capital Sanaa, has been launching attacks on Israel as part of what it describes as solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Hodeidah port serves as a crucial gateway for humanitarian aid and commercial goods entering Yemen, which has been embroiled in civil war since 2014.
