The two nuclear powers have agreed to suspend military operations and meet at a neutral site to discuss their differences, ‘a broad range of issues’, as Washington said, following a week of tit for tat deadly retaliation, their worst confrontation in two decades, which raised fears of all out war.
‘Congratulations to both countries for their common sense and great intelligence’, President Trump said on Truth Social, announcing that India and Pakistan had agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.
‘We welcome the leaders wisdom, prudence and statesmanship of choosing the path of peace’, said US foreign minister Marco Rubio.
The foreign ministers of both countries confirmed the agreement.
