Construction has begun on a new multipurpose park in Ayia Napa, with the €4.2 million project expected to be completed within 16 months, local officials announced.
The park, co-funded by the European Union through the THALIA 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Programme, aims to revitalise the urban environment and provide residents with a safe recreational space, the municipality said in a statement.
Located between Ayias Mavris and Yiannis Ritsos streets, south of Tefkrou Anthia street near the town centre, the development will transform a neglected area into a modern leisure facility.
The park will feature a 1,000-square-metre children’s playground, picnic areas, an artificial lake, gardens with diverse plant species, and decorative mosaics throughout the grounds, according to municipal plans.
“This project represents a significant part of Ayia Napa’s strategy to improve residents’ quality of life”, a municipal spokesperson said, adding that the park is expected to attract both locals and tourists.
The total cost of the project is €4,210,052.92, with works scheduled for completion in early 2026.
