The outgoing president of the Ready-Mix Concrete Manufacturers Association, Costas Kythreotis, has announced he will sign the new collective agreement with trade unions following a general assembly of workers scheduled for 9:30 AM at Pyrgos Limassol.
Kythreotis, who owns one of the sector’s largest companies, said in a radio interview that he would meet with unions to sign the agreement as negotiated with the Labour Minister and trade unions.
He predicted that other major companies in the sector who were party to the existing collective agreement would follow suit.
However, some smaller companies that had not previously implemented the collective agreement are not expected to sign.
Earlier, PEO union representative Michalis Papanikolaou stated that workers would return to companies that sign the agreement, whilst industrial action would continue against those that refuse.
