Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus, Oren Anolik, called on Cypriot entrepreneurs and companies to expand their business activities in Israel during the annual Cyprus-Israel Business Association luncheon held in Nicosia yesterday.
Ambassador Anolik emphasised that opportunities exist for Cypriot businesses looking to expand beyond the island, stating that “Israel is open for business.”
The ambassador’s remarks included references to Israel’s relations with Turkey, suggesting this creates new opportunities for Cypriot enterprises. He explained that Cypriot companies could take advantage of the “window of opportunity” presented by the strained commercial relations between Israel and Turkey.
“This is the moment to find opportunities in Israel,” Anolik told Cypriot entrepreneurs, while highlighting that Israel’s economy remains resilient despite the ongoing war.
The annual luncheon was attended by numerous Cypriot business leaders and company representatives, alongside U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus Julie Davis.
Among the guests was Minister of Energy and Commerce, George Papanastasiou, who emphasised the strong relations between Cyprus and Israel during his address. Papanastasiou noted that Israeli entrepreneurs have invested in Cyprus across various sectors, including tourism, transportation, real estate, and healthcare.
The Energy Minister further stated that commercial ties between Cyprus and Israel have strengthened in recent years, highlighting that Israel is now one of Cyprus’s most important trading partners and remains the second most significant market for tourism.
The guest of honour and keynote speaker at the annual luncheon was Dr. Dan Catarivas, Senior Advisor for International Relations at the Israel Builders Association and President of the Federation of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce in Israel.
