A long-awaited stretch of the Nicosia Ring Road opened to traffic on Thursday.
The 7.5-kilometre motorway will connect the existing Nicosia-Limassol motorway (A1) with Tseriou Avenue, in an effort to improve traffic flow in the capital.
The new road includes key infrastructure such as an interchange near the Dali Industrial Area, a bridge linking the old Nicosia-Limassol road (B1) to the A1, and an interchange near the Tseri Industrial Area.
Additionally, a grade-separated roundabout at the junction of Tseriou and Pefkou Avenues will enhance traffic management.
The project opened after a 16-month delay. The contractor faces a total penalty of €132,00 for the hold-up.
