The government will provide a €200 monthly subsidy without income criteria for the 2025-2026 school year to children aged between four years and four years and five months attending private kindergartens and daycare centers.
Children attending community kindergartens will receive a reduced subsidy of €130 monthly.
The subsidy specifically covers children who, as of August 31, 2025, have reached four years and one day but have not exceeded four years and five months – the age before mandatory free pre-school education begins.
The Cyprus Private Pre-School Education Association confirmed that children aged 0-4 years can qualify for a separate Tuition and Feeding Subsidy Scheme if:
- The child’s family has been approved for Child Benefit
- The family has a dependent child aged up to four years as of August 31, 2025
- The child is enrolled in a participating kindergarten or daycare center
This separate scheme provides up to 80% of monthly tuition costs, with the maximum amount varying based on family income, child’s age, and family composition.
The Cabinet has approved two subsidy schemes for children attending kindergartens and infant care centers with a total budget of €22 million.
Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Marilena Evangelou told philenews these schemes “significantly enhance access to quality education and care services for pre-school children” while helping parents balance family and professional responsibilities.
Evangelou stressed the government’s continued focus on supporting families, noting a recent 5% increase in Child Benefit payments and the removal of income criteria for families with five or more dependent children.
“Within this year, we are implementing another significant decision aimed at further supporting families: expanding Child Benefit eligibility to cover the entire middle class,” she added.
