President Nikos Christodoulides has announced the launch of ‘Minds in Cyprus’, an international campaign aimed at encouraging talented Cypriots living abroad to return home, with over 750 people already expressing interest in the initiative.
Speaking at the IN Business Awards 2025, Christodoulides revealed the campaign will begin next week in the United Kingdom in collaboration with Invest Cyprus and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), as part of the national strategy to strengthen the country’s productive base.
“Beyond tax incentives, we will approve a series of additional measures next week before our trip to London to facilitate the return of Cypriots who excel abroad,” the President said.
“I am particularly pleased that there is interest from over 750 individuals, which has forced us to change the venue where we had planned to organise this event”.
The level of interest has exceeded expectations, requiring organisers to secure a larger venue for the London launch.
Christodoulides reiterated his government’s strategy for building a resilient and competitive economic model, highlighting that Cyprus achieved 3.4% growth in 2024 – among the highest rates in the EU – with unemployment falling below 5% and youth unemployment recording the largest decrease in Europe.
The President emphasised that responsible fiscal policy, bold reforms and creating a business-friendly environment are at the heart of this strategy.
A significant milestone, he said, is the recently presented tax reform – the first in 20 years – which “reduces tax burdens, enhances liquidity and provides incentives for investments in technology, digital transition and the green economy”.
Christodoulides also highlighted digital transition as a pillar of development, referring to the “Digital Citizen” application that unifies government services and reduces bureaucracy.
He announced plans to connect this platform with its Greek equivalent and integrate 60 new services by 2025.
The President stressed the need to align education with the labour market, with three relevant studies currently underway, and reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing quality education and strategic investments.
Christodoulides referenced the international campaign to restore Cyprus’s reputation that began in early 2024, following a series of internal reforms and initiatives that demonstrated the government’s political will.
The campaign aims to reposition the country on the international investment map as a reliable and dynamic business centre.
His recent visit to the United States, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Innovation and the Deputy Minister to the President, included stops at technology and energy centres such as Silicon Valley and Houston.
The President expressed satisfaction that Cyprus is gaining ground on the global map of investments and technology, regaining its reputation as an attractive and quality investment destination.
