Diesel nears €2 a litre as refinery prices keep rising

Relevant News

Diesel is averaging close to 2 euros a litre in Cyprus and refinery prices are still rising, Consumer Protection Service director Konstantinos Karagiorgis said. He told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that geopolitical developments leave little room for optimism about where fuel prices are heading.

The Fuel Retail Price Observatory put the average price of diesel at 1.977 euros a litre on Wednesday morning. Prices ranged from 1.869 euros to 2.076 euros.

Unleaded 95 averaged 1.70 euros a litre, with prices ranging from 1.595 euros to 1.789 euros.

Karagiorgis was asked about the price of fuel cargoes due to arrive in the coming period. “We cannot predict what will happen in the future,” he said. He added that he hoped there would be a prospect of resolving the disputes in the region, so that the situation would stabilise.
