The Renewable Energy and Energy Savings Fund (RES-ES) management committee has announced it will accept new applications under Category A3: Photovoltaics for All, part of the “Grant Scheme for promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in homes 2024-25”.

The reopened Category A3 will remain available until 3,000 applications have been successfully submitted.

The scheme aims to encourage non-vulnerable households who lack initial capital to install solar panel systems in their homes.

It enables them to utilise clean solar energy whilst reducing electricity bills and their environmental footprint, supporting Cyprus’s transition towards sustainability.

Under the scheme, the RES-ES Fund covers the initial investment cost, which beneficiaries later repay through instalments added to their electricity bills.

Following a decision by the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, the reopened scheme introduces limited but significant modifications to enhance its effectiveness and expand access to more households.

The changes include the removal of the previous 6,000 kWh annual consumption limit and a reduction in the grant amount to €500 from €1,000.

The repayment amount to the RES-ES Fund has increased to €4,500 from €4,000.

These adjustments aim to discourage applications from those who can self-fund installations through Category A1 (which offers a €1,500 grant), ensuring the scheme reaches those most in need.

Additionally, eligibility has been extended to include those with registered sale agreements at the Department of Lands and Surveys, even if they are not yet registered property owners.

Applications must be submitted electronically through the RES-ES Fund website, before any installation work, and can be completed in either Greek or English.

The committee advises potential applicants to carefully review the scheme’s provisions before applying to ensure they meet all eligibility requirements.

The broader grant scheme continues to offer other categories of funding, including general solar panel installations, support for vulnerable households, and roof insulation projects, all of which remain active.
