Now, can we blame Pakistan for viewing us as a third-world country? Even if we assume the deceased was involved in some migrant trafficking ring or whatever else, we’ve given them every right to demand explanations.
And if they claim their citizen was murdered because his group couldn’t reach an agreement on the split with our police officers (an allegation I in no way endorse), what defence can we offer? While we’re on the subject, it’s worth remembering that in the past, cases were fabricated against Turkish Cypriot smugglers, and if I recall correctly, the Republic of Cyprus was condemned by the European Court of Human Rights. Our only hope now is for them to say, “What else can you expect from a country whose coroners can’t tell the difference between a rock and a bullet?“
