Robbers on motorcycles targeted three cyclists in Limassol in the early hours of Tuesday, taking cash and personal belongings and leaving a 50-year-old woman slightly injured, police said.

The first two robberies happened at around 3.30am on Promachon Eleftherias Street, just 30 metres apart. The third was reported at around 4.50am on Nikou Pattichi Street.

The woman was cycling on Nikou Pattichi Street when three people on two motorcycles, with hoods covering their faces, approached her, according to her report to police. One of them pulled her bag, and she fell to the ground, suffering minor injuries to her face and hands. The robbers took the bag, which held cash, a mobile phone and other personal items, and fled.

In the first robbery, a 23-year-old man told police that two people on a large motorcycle approached him as he cycled along Promachon Eleftherias Street. The passenger got off and demanded his wallet. Fearing for his safety, the man handed it over. It contained cash and bank cards. The robber then pushed him, got back on the motorcycle and rode off with his accomplice.

At about the same time, a 20-year-old woman cycling on the same street, about 30 metres from the first robbery, was approached by six people on three small motorcycles. All six wore black clothes, helmets and black hoods. Two of them got off and demanded her money. When she said she had none, they snatched her bag, which held cash and personal documents, and left.

Limassol CID is investigating to trace those responsible.
