Police have caught seven minors driving their parents’ cars to school in Polis Chrysochous over the past ten days, a Paphos police spokesman said, adding that more coordinated operations are planned to stop it happening again.
The cases are being treated as juvenile matters and statements are being taken, Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nikolaou told CyBC radio on Monday morning. He made clear, however, that the children would not be prosecuted.
In every case, the parents claimed their children had taken the cars without their consent, Nikolaou said.
New coordinated police operations to prevent similar incidents will be carried out in the coming days, he added.
