Driver with triple the alcohol limit arrested after Limassol crash

A 23-year-old driver was arrested after failing an alcohol test following a crash in Limassol early on Friday that left a 27-year-old woman in hospital with a broken arm.

His final reading was 75 micrograms, against a legal limit of 22 micrograms.

The crash happened at 12.50am on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, at its junction with Marinou Geroulanou and Georgiou Averof streets, when the car he was driving collided with one driven by the woman. Police are investigating how it happened.

The woman was admitted to hospital. Her two passengers, a 62-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy, were treated for minor injuries and discharged.

Limassol traffic police are continuing the investigation.
