Teachers‘ unions POED, OELMEK and OLTEK are protesting outside the Presidential Palace on Thursday after rejecting the Education Ministry’s updated proposal for the system of appointing teachers.
The ministry presented the revised proposal to the unions on Tuesday, but they do not accept it.
The unions say the proposal does not protect teachers who have served in public schools for years. They also say it poses very serious risks to the staffing of schools from 2027 onwards.
