Limassol CID is investigating an attempted murder after a 44-year-old man was allegedly struck in the abdomen with a sharp construction tool by a co-worker during a heated argument at a building site in Mouttagiaka on Thursday morning.
The alleged attacker ran off on foot immediately afterwards and has not yet been found.
The injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance and is undergoing surgery. His condition is described as serious but stable, according to information so far.

Limassol CID chief Kostas Michael said police were told at around 8am that a man had been injured at a building under construction in the Mouttagiaka area. Initial examinations and witness accounts at the scene established that the wound had been caused by a cutter, a type of construction tool.
Michael said the man had allegedly had a heated argument with a co-worker for reasons that have not yet been established, during which the other man allegedly used the tool to wound him in the abdomen. Both men worked at the same site.
Police have taken a statement from an eyewitness. Investigators are using all available evidence in an effort to find and arrest the alleged attacker.
