Nicosia, Axiothea Mansion, 8.30pm. The South Korean duo Dal:um performs music that moves between Korean tradition and contemporary experimental music, reworking the sound of two traditional string instruments into a new, personal musical language. In a concert that is part of the 29th University of Cyprus Cultural Festival, Hyeyoung Hwang on the geomungo and Suhyun Ha on the gayageum draw on the different expressive range of each instrument, creating a soundscape where Korean musical tradition meets minimalism, improvisation and contemporary experimentation. 22894531

Nicosia, School for the Blind Amphitheatre, 8.30pm. Giorgos Dalaras brings ‘Rebetiko’, a concert dedicated to the Greek rebetiko tradition, to Cyprus. He is joined by a hand-picked group of musicians and the singers Aspasia Stratigou, Mariana Katsimicha and Vasilis Korakakis, in a programme that sets out to bring out the style and distinctive sound of rebetiko. Nicosia, Municipal Theatre Studio, 8pm. Nova Melancholia’s award-winning performance ‘Sebastian’, directed by Vasilis Noulas, comes to the Nicosia International Festival. It approaches Saint Sebastian not as a fixed religious image but as an ever-changing symbol of Western art and imagination. Nicosia, Aigaia Theatre, 8.30pm. ‘Vigil for Pentheus: Thoughts on the End of Civilisation’, conceived by Eirini Andronikou, returns for a second run. The piece is a stage exploration of the idea of the end of civilisation and the dark forces running through human history. It was part of the Empty Space Festival, under the artistic direction of Stathis Livathinos, and was staged twice in a row at the Kykladon Street Theatre – Lefteris Vogiatzis in Athens. Limassol, Pattichion Municipal Theatre, 8.30pm. Eleni Rantou returns to Cyprus with ‘The Party of My Life’, now in its fifth year. With humour and candour, Rantou unpicks 50 years of personal and collective trauma against the backdrop of modern Greece, in search of the reasons life is worth living. The show is inspired by ‘Every Brilliant Thing’ by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe but is not an adaptation of it. Further date: October 7, 7pm. Tickets: Ticketmaster.

Nicosia, Dentro Theatre, 8.30pm. Florian Zeller’s multi-award-winning play ‘The Father’, directed by Giannis Leontaris with Stavros Louras in the lead role, returns to Dentro Theatre. Protaras, Agia Triada beach, October 1 to 6. The Cyprus Rocks Festival returns to Protaras in the first week of October with tribute acts from the UK and Europe, playing the music of AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Queen, Def Leppard, Foo Fighters, Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, The Who, Status Quo and other rock names. cyprusrocks.co.uk.
