Rain has been falling since midday in various mountainous parts of Cyprus, in a temporary shift in the weather.
Videos posted on the “Kairofiloi Kyprou” (“Cyprus Weather Enthusiasts”) page show rain affecting the mountain areas.
According to the Department of Meteorology, isolated rain and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out until the afternoon, mainly inland and in the mountains, with the possibility of hail during any thunderstorms.
Winds will be light to moderate, three to four on the Beaufort scale, reaching five in the south.
The rain is expected to ease by late afternoon. The evening will be mostly clear, though increased low cloud is expected in places, mainly along the coast, with the possibility of fog forming in the eastern half of the island and inland.
