German school coach carrying over 50 students crashes near Amsterdam, eight injured

A coach carrying more than 50 German high-school students crashed into a delivery van in the eastern Netherlands early on Monday, injuring eight people, Dutch police said.

“Some of the victims taken to the hospital are seriously injured,” the police department of Gelderland province said in a post on X. Other people suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The coach, which carried more than 50 people, according to a police spokesperson, crashed near the town of Wezep, some 100 km (62 miles) east of Amsterdam around 4 a.m. (0200 GMT) due to a collision with a delivery van, whose driver was among the injured victims.

The A28 highway was closed in both directions following the accident.
