Cyprus is set to complete the formal procedures needed to have a Lithuanian estate agent extradited to the Republic. A French court has rejected her appeal against a European arrest warrant, competent sources have confirmed.
The sources did not specify a timeframe, saying only that extradition would follow “once the formal procedures are completed.”
The 53-year-old had been arrested at Nice Airport on May 16 under a European arrest warrant issued by Cyprus, on suspicion of illegally selling Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied areas. She appealed against the warrant’s execution in early July.
The appeal was expected to take between two weeks and a month to be examined by the competent court. That process has now concluded, with the court rejecting the 53-year-old’s request not to execute the European warrant, the same sources said.
The warrant will now be carried out, and the Lithuanian woman will be handed over to Cypriot authorities to stand trial on the charges she faces.
