Acting on a tip off involving the serious injury of a 29 year old woman, authorities arrested a 36 year old man at dawn in connection with the investigation of a host of offences, including attempted murder, actions aimed at grievous bodily harm and kidnapping with the aim of causing grievous bodily harm as well as violence against women in accordance with relevant legislation.
The offences were allegedly committed on Wednesday and yesterday at a home in Nicosia, where the victim had been locked in.
The woman was examined at the Nicosia General Hospital ER, where she was established to have suffered bruises, edemas and hematomas on various parts of her torso. She was treated and discharged.
The 36 year old will appear tomorrow before the Nicosia District Court following a police request for the man to be remanded in custody.
The Nicosia CID is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
