Lifeguards save swimmer from drowning in Paphos rough seas

Relevant News

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) was placed on alert this morning after a report of a swimmer in difficulty in rough seas off Peyia. A police helicopter took off from Larnaca airport and headed to the area, but lifeguards had already reached the swimmer and brought him safely to shore.

The swimmer had been spotted being swept out to sea from a beach in the Peyia area, as rough seas were affecting the coast this morning. Authorities were notified and activated the rescue plan in place for such incidents, though the lifeguards’ prompt intervention helped avoid a worse outcome.

Once brought ashore, the man was picked up by an ambulance that had arrived in the area in the meantime and taken to Paphos Hospital as a precaution. His condition was not a cause for concern.
