Police officers seized more than 1,400 canisters containing nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, following a coordinated overnight operation targeting nightclubs in Ayia Napa.
The targeted operation was carried out under judicial warrants by members of the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN), with the operational assistance of the Mobile Immediate Action Unit (MMAD).
During the sweeps, authorities inspected four separate entertainment venues. In three of these establishments, officers discovered and confiscated a total of 1,423 canisters of nitrous oxide—which is classified as a controlled pharmaceutical substance—alongside 455 balloons and three metal dispensers.
Two individuals were arrested during the operation on suspicion of illegal possession of a Class B controlled drug.
The Ayia Napa Police Station is continuing its investigation into the cases.
