A fire broke out yesterday at 15:01 in a bedroom on the first floor of a two-storey house in Lakatamia, Nicosia district. A resident escaped safely before the fire spread.
Two fire engines attended the scene. Firefighters extinguished the blaze using breathing apparatus and water hoses. The bedroom and its contents sustained extensive damage.
Initial reports suggest the fire may have been caused by an electric iron left switched on and resting on fabric.
