Police are still trying to establish what caused a violent brawl at a beer hall in Ypsonas around midnight, involving Greek Cypriots and a group of Indians.
Five suspects were brought before Limassol District Court on Sunday morning for a remand order. The court approved the police request and ordered that they be held for six days.
Police inquiries so far indicate that two Greek Cypriots, while inside the beer hall, got into an argument with Indian patrons, including two of the three Indian suspects.
During the first fight, those involved allegedly pulled knives, while damage was also caused inside the premises, with bottles smashed.
Police said later inquiries found that, after the first incident, some of those involved allegedly called for backup.
A few minutes later, another 10 to 15 people of Indian origin arrived at the beer hall carrying sticks and knives and became involved in the fight.
Police are still looking for 15 people believed to be involved in the case, while another 31 statements are expected to be taken.
Five people were injured in the brawl and taken to hospital.
Four were discharged after receiving first aid, while the fifth injured person, aged 29, was kept in hospital for treatment and further monitoring.
