Ballet Philippines, the Philippines’ leading professional ballet company, brings its production of Alice in Wonderland to Limassol’s Pattihio Theatre on 12 and 13 May 2026, as part of the company’s European tour, in a show designed for audiences of all ages from four upwards.
The production is presented by Celebrity Gala, which says the show is “exactly the kind of event for which Celebrity Gala exists — a production that requires no geographical discounts and is equal to what is presented on the best stages of Europe.”
The company adds that it is “especially happy that this time it is a performance parents can share with their children — perhaps bringing them to a real theatre for the very first time.”
The choreography is by Mikhail “Misha” Martynyuk, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation and recipient of the Vaganova Prix, the Gold Medal of the Astana International Competition, and the Soul of Dance Award.
His interpretation takes an unexpected angle: Alice does not grow to gigantic proportions but instead becomes smaller, with the wonders around her appearing immense while she remains a little girl learning not to fear the unknown — turning a familiar fairy tale into a poetic metaphor for growing up.
The production is set to the music of Claude Debussy — fluid, atmospheric compositions that move between gentle lulls and sudden sweeps of adventure, chosen precisely for a world where nothing is quite as it seems.
Audiences will recognise all the beloved characters from the first moments: the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts.
The show promises striking costumes, surreal stage design, and choreography of international calibre, with a running time of approximately two hours including an intermission.
While children are drawn into the story from the outset, adults will find their own layer in the performance — a philosophical story about courage, identity, and the power of imagination.
Founded in 1969, Ballet Philippines was the first resident company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, has participated in Expo 2025 in Osaka, and has earned numerous international awards over its 56-year history.
The world premiere of this production took place in Manila in December 2025, where it was acclaimed as one of the season’s major artistic events. Cyprus is one of the key stops on the company’s European tour in 2026.
