A man convicted of kidnapping a woman punched a prosecuting authority representative in the face inside Limassol’s Criminal Court on Friday, moments after being sentenced to four years in prison.
The attack came as the defendant was leaving the dock following the announcement of his sentence.
Despite being accompanied by members of the Special Police Force (MMAD), the assault was not prevented in time.
Police officers present in the courtroom immobilised him shortly after.
The prosecuting authority representative sustained facial injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital.
