U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that oil companies should continue using the Strait of Hormuz and that he was not concerned about the prospect of Iran-backed attacks on American soil.
Asked by reporters at the White House whether oil firms should be using the strategically vital waterway — a narrow chokepoint through which a significant share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passes — Trump replied: “I think they should.”
The president also told reporters he was not worried about Iran-backed strikes targeting the United States.
