Police in Limassol were put on alert on Tuesday afternoon after a worker found a pistol while sorting rubbish at the OEDA Pentakomo waste facility.
The weapon — described as a black pistol with a brown handle — was seized as evidence by officers who attended the scene. It is to be sent for scientific examination to determine whether it is a real firearm or a replica.
Police said their investigation is ongoing.
