Snowfall with light accumulation has been reported since dawn across several mountain areas at elevations of approximately 1,000 metres and above.
The weather system is entering the island from the north-northwest, affecting mainly the northwestern half of Cyprus with localised rain and scattered snowfall in mountain areas.
The heaviest snowfall and accumulation is expected in the northwestern two-thirds of the Troodos range, with conditions spreading to the highest mountain areas during the early morning and morning hours.
The pattern is expected to continue over the coming hours, after which the phenomena will become more scattered, remaining intermittent until the afternoon or early evening.
Police said in an announcement that officers are conducting continuous patrols and checks on road network conditions. The effort focuses on early detection of any problems and taking necessary measures to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.
