The installation of smart storage boxes for personal belongings has been completed at seven locations along the beaches of Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality as part of an innovative initiative to enhance visitor security and service.
According to the municipality, two storage stations have been installed at Fig Tree Bay and five stations at Vryssi Beach, with an additional station to be added at Kapparis Beach in April 2026.
The smart boxes provide a solution to beachgoers’ storage problems and address the security needs of people exercising along the coastal walkway.
The smart boxes are activated either by palm recognition or a four-digit personal code and include mobile phone charging cables inside.
Rental fees vary according to box size and duration of use:
Small boxes:
- 1 hour: €1
- 2 hours: €2
- 3 hours: €3
- 3-6 hours: €4.80
- 6-12 hours: €6
- 12-24 hours: €8.90
Large boxes:
- 1 hour: €2
- 2 hours: €3.50
- 3 hours: €4.80
- 3-6 hours: €7.80
- 6-12 hours: €10
- 12-24 hours: €12.90
The installation and operation of the smart boxes has been assigned to a private company, which determines the terms of use and charges.
