Relevant News

Israel today confirmed carrying out a military strike inside Qatar’s capital Doha, targeting what it said be Hamas’s leadership.

This brings the number of countries attacked by Israel since October 7, 2023 to six.

Analysis of data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project shows Israel carried out nearly 35,000 recorded attacks across five countries between October 7, 2023, and June 13, 2025.

The Palestinian territories have borne the heaviest assault, followed by Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and now Qatar.

Gaza and West Bank

Israel launched its bombing campaign and invaded Gaza on October 27 with stated objectives of destroying Hamas and freeing hostages. The Gaza Health Ministry reports over 64,000 Palestinians killed since the Israeli offensive began.

Lebanon

Israeli forces have attacked Lebanon more than 6,500 times along the 120-kilometre border since October 8, when Hezbollah began attacking Israel in solidarity with Palestinians. The operations escalated into a ground invasion in October 2024, with Israeli forces maintaining five military outposts in southern Lebanon despite ceasefire agreements.

Syria, Yemen

Israeli strikes have extended far beyond immediate borders. Fighter jets have reached targets approximately 550 kilometers away in Syria and 1,500 kilometers away in Yemen and Iran.

In Syria, Israel has conducted more than 144 armed incidents, killing over 260 people while targeting Iranian and Hezbollah assets. The pace intensified following Syria’s government collapse in December 2024.

Attacks in Yemen have focused on Houthi-controlled infrastructure, including Sanaa International Airport and Hodeidah Port, in response to Houthi missile and drone attacks on Israel.

Iran

The conflict with Iran escalated in June 2025 when Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and military installations. The 12-day war included U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites before a ceasefire was brokered.

Qatar strike

Tuesday’s operation in Doha marked Israel’s first known military action in a Gulf Cooperation Council member state. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed targeting “senior leadership” of Hamas with “a precise strike,” reportedly including chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack as “a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms,” calling it a “criminal attack” on residential buildings housing Hamas political bureau members.

The strike occurred as Hamas negotiators were reportedly discussing a U.S.-proposed Gaza ceasefire.
