Outdoor work suspended amid red heat warning

Relevant News

The Labour Inspection Department of the Ministry of Labour announced that all outdoor heavy and moderate work will be suspended today from 11:00 to 17:00 due to a red warning for extremely high temperatures. Additionally, delivery and transport work using motorcycles or personal mobility devices is suspended from 12:00 to 16:00.

The measures apply to inland areas (altitude below 300 metres and distance over 10km from the coastline) and higher mountainous regions (above 1,150 metres).

For areas where the red level does not apply, the department reminds employers and self-employed workers to measure temperature and relative humidity and adjust work accordingly, taking protective measures.

Recommended measures include frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, staff rotation, provision of cool drinking water, use of light and breathable clothing, appropriate head covering and sunglasses, and avoiding heavy meals and caffeinated or alcoholic beverages.

According to the Code of Practice, work must be suspended when temperatures range from 39°C to 46°C and relative humidity exceeds specific limits, which vary depending on the severity of the work.
