The Labour Inspection Department announced on Sunday a ban on all medium and high-intensity outdoor work between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. local time due to extremely high temperatures. The ban also includes product delivery by motorcycles or other personal mobility devices.
The prohibition applies to inland areas below 300 meters in elevation and more than 10 kilometers from the coastline, as well as mountainous areas above 1,150 meters.
The department, part of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, reminded employers to implement measures outlined in the Codes of Practice for Thermal Stress. These measures include frequent breaks in cool areas, provision of drinking water at 10-15°C, use of light clothing and head coverings, and avoiding strenuous tasks during the hottest hours.
