Mobile speed cameras in Limassol district suspended until Monday, police say

The operation of mobile speed cameras across the Limassol district has been suspended until Monday due to the ongoing fires, police confirmed.

In a statement, police said they issued instructions today at midday directing the contractor of the private company to halt mobile camera usage throughout the Limassol district until 28 July 2025.

Citizens on social media reported mobile speed cameras being set up at locations near the wildfires, where people had been trying to evacuate.

Cyprus is battling multiple wildfire fronts that have killed two people, destroyed dozens of homes and displaced hundreds of animals from affected communities.
