The Pancyprian Veterinary Association has mobilised free emergency veterinary services for animals affected by the ongoing wildfire in the Limassol District.

Veterinarians will provide unpaid treatment for animals from fire-affected areas, with the association preparing to publish a comprehensive list of participating clinics.

“The Pancyprian Veterinary Association will publish a list of clinics that will offer their services free of charge from Limassol province, but also in other cities where needed, depending on requirements and individual cases,” the organisation stated.

The association expressed concern about the repeated nature of such incidents, stating: “With profound sadness we observe for yet another year, a catastrophic fire destroying green areas in the southern foothills of Troodos in mountainous Limassol.”

The extent of damage remains unknown, though the association noted: “We do not yet know the extent of the destruction, but we are informed that needs may arise for animal care.”

Veterinarians have committed to providing services without charge during the crisis. “Veterinarians, as in every similar crisis, will offer their services free of charge for the care of animals from the affected areas,” the association confirmed.

The association acknowledged all emergency responders, stating: “We express our thanks to those fighting the flames and trying to extinguish them and limit the ecological disaster, primarily to firefighters and forest firefighters, but also to all volunteer groups participating.”

Specific recognition was given to animal welfare volunteers: “Among them are volunteer animal lovers who participate in animal rescue.”

The association concluded: “Let us hope that this evil will end soon.”
