The family of Thanasis Nicolaou is planning a new protest outside the Law Office this coming Saturday.

Thanasis’s mother, Andriana, issued a new public call for participation in the protest.

In a Facebook post, she states the following:

“The family of the murdered soldier, Athanasios Nicolaou, and the ‘ATHANASIOS NICOLAOU FOUNDATION FOR JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS’ invite ALL citizens across Cyprus, regardless of party, color, or ideology, to a protest outside the offices of the Law Office on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., exactly 20 years from the day of the enlistment of †Athanasios in the army.”

She also notes that “the tragic case of †Athanasios Nicolaou concerns all of us without exception, because we all send children to the Army, and it could happen to anyone. We demand the application of the Rule of Law for our children and our country, and we demand the Vindication of †Thanasis’s Memory, and the prosecution of all suspects and perpetrators before Justice.”

She adds, “We demand an end to the insult to his Memory by those involved who covered up his murder and their companions. With their inhumane behavior, they proved the level of the people we had to fight against for so many years for the obvious and his posthumous vindication.”

“For 20 years, Cypriot Justice has been covering up the heinous crime, the brutal murder of Thanasis, which occurred within the National Guard, during his service. We remind you that Thanasis, 26 years old, was born and raised in Australia and came to Cyprus as soon as he finished his studies. While the murder has been scientifically proven, and despite Cyprus being condemned by the ECHR, Cypriot Justice refuses to seek out the culprits and punish the perpetrators. Absolute and unchecked powers served a system of corruption, resulting in Cyprus having multiple and continuous condemnations by the ECHR,” it is noted.

Concluding, she emphasizes that “as we all know, Thanasis was not the only victim of cover-up and corruption! This fact demonstrates the serious pathology of the justice system in Cyprus and the institutional authorities that represent it,” while also stressing that “we demand the cleanup of Justice. We demand Justice for Thanasis and his family, as well as for every citizen whose rights are violated by the state institutions.”
