The world is full of demands, pressure and “musts”. People often become pushy without understanding others and their needs. Pressure – almost – always brings the opposite of desired results—something we humans frequently forget.
We need to recognise that things cannot always happen according to our mental schedule, and that others have their own plans, their own personal lives and their own desires.
In our times, especially with the strong presence of social media in our lives, it is rare and precious to find time with ourselves. It is equally rare to have people around who understand you deeply.
We need individuals in our lives who, when we tell them “I can’t today,” don’t take it personally. They won’t get angry and, most importantly, won’t make us feel guilty. People who understand that no one is obligated to be with their mobile phone in hand all day.
We all need people who will tell us: “No problem”. People who won’t measure us by our presence at their every invitation, but by the relationship we’ve built on substance, not obligation.
Because true love and friendship don’t pressure or demand—they give space and freedom. They let the other person breathe. True connection is built through freedom, not control. Through acceptance, not demand.
We love, a little more, those who give us freedom, not those who suffocate us. Life is already so pressured that the last thing we need is to be surrounded by people who try to dictate our schedule.
Demanding people will always lose something of us, no matter how close we want to be to them.
