Two people, a 52-year-old man and his 47-year-old female partner, have been arrested in Limassol on suspicion of premeditated murder following the brutal stabbing death of 45-year-old Yiannis Argyrou. His body was discovered in a closed garage on Sunday morning.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to various parts of his body and neck. The exact number of injuries is expected to be clarified by the official post-mortem examination scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, to be conducted by state pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for the killing and locate the murder weapon. The 52-year-old suspect, who was found by police in a cafe in Limassol, was taken for questioning but reportedly did not cooperate with authorities. According to testimonies from witnesses at the cafe, the suspect was heard to say he “slaughtered the victim.” Blood stains were reportedly found on his trousers.

The 52-year-old and his partner were reportedly with the victim in the closed garage. Initial findings suggest that personal differences between the victim and the 52-year-old suspect may be the motive behind the killing.

The 47-year-old suspect was also questioned by Limassol CID and claimed she had left the garage area at some point.

Evidence suggesting drug use was found at the murder scene in the garage and collected for scientific examination. CCTV footage from the area of the killing and the area where the 52-year-old was arrested has also been collected for study.

The victim’s body was discovered on Sunday morning by his mother, who had been searching for him since Saturday night. The garage where he was found, which belonged to the victim’s family and was used by him, was closed with a roller shutter that was found slightly open.

Both suspects are expected to appear before the Limassol District Court on Monday for a request for their remand in custody.
